Rayna hadn’t been to New Castle, Garvonia since she left not even a week after she graduated from Darcy Academy. Now, it was the only place she felt safe enough to hide herself and her little girl who wasn’t even really her little girl. Leslie, the beautiful big green-eyed little girl she now called her own daughter, was really her sister’s daughter. No one would have been able to see that though, as Rayna and her sister had looked fairly close in looks, anyone would believe that Leslie was Rayna’s daughter. Leslie even had Rayna's big green eyes. It hurt to think of Jade and how she was now dead, and how Rayna lost what family she had left after her pack leader had killed them all. She hadn’t been able to save her family, but she would be damned if she let him have her niece. Rayna knew she couldn’t stay in the states, she had only knocked him out and the rest of his small pack would be looking for revenge. Rayna spent five months hiding and finally had called Adaleen, though smudging the truth a bit by saying that Leslie was her daughter, had moved back to New Castle and became protected by Adaleen and the school. Legally, Leslie was her daughter, as she had signed papers as her legal guardian and then took the extra steps to adopt the infant. Of course, she ran as soon as she could and used trusted men to do the legal documents for her. She never had mentioned them to the pack and so the pack would never know that she had people she could turn to for legal documents on the run. It ended up saving her life and keeping people out of her life.
Rayna tried her hardest to keep the thoughts of her past behind her; it was much easier this way. Of course, that night completely changed who she had been before. Before, Rayna had been a happy-go-lucky girl who absolutely loved to be with a huge crowd of people and had even captain of Darcy’s cheer squad and co-captain of the dance team her senior year. She of course was a very pretty young girl, who turned into a beautiful young woman, but she never had steady boyfriends, though she had fallen in love with one man but she hadn’t thought it would have worked out between them. She actually still kicked her butt for that but she knew she couldn’t change it. Now, she was almost cold, distant, and just didn’t trust anyone with anything especially not her heart and even more so she wouldn’t trust anyone with Leslie. She just didn’t think she ever could. The little baby girl was just too precious to her, and if she lost her she knew that she would lose herself. Keeping Leslie happy and most of all safe was the one thing on Rayna’s mind, though deep down she knew that she still wanted a man to push past her barriers and make her see that she does need help and still needs love.
Currently, Rayna had decided to take Leslie to the beach. Sure, she was only six months old, but Leslie seemed to already have a love for water so Rayna had no objections to taking the little infant to the beach for an hour or two and just sitting in the sun. She had taken a towel to sit on, Leslie’s baby bag, sunscreen, an umbrella for shade, and food for herself and milk for Leslie. Rayna had chosen a spot that wasn’t overly crowded, and let herself relax slightly though still keeping her mind open in case she needed to run. Rayna looked down at her smiling baby and let Leslie hold onto her pointer finger. “Hello baby girl. Momma loves you.” Suddenly, the song Me and Emily by Rachel Procter came into her mind. That song made her think of her situation and how it basically sounded like her life now. Sure, not everything was the same. It hadn’t been her husband, but he hand raised a hand to her, but if he had ever raised his hand to Leslie she would die inside. She was running away with her baby so he couldn’t hurt them ever again, and she hoped that it stayed that way. As she thought this, Rayna gave a sad smile to Leslie. “I’ll never let him hurt you baby.” She said this with a slight break in her voice, but she meant it. Rayna would give her life before she ever let anyone harm Leslie.

"I'm all set Andrea, have you got your bags? Sunblock? Towels?" Miles bellowed from upstairs. He could hear the nature channel on again so odds were she wasn't listening to him. He shouted her name only to be responded with an impatient "WHAT!? to which Miles sighed angrily. He'd specifically scheduled this day as some time at the beach just the two of them. He came downstairs and saw as he expected, his little girl sprawled over the carpet (despite the fact they had sofas) with none of her things ready. Apparently the beach wasn't as interesting as monkeys. Miles asked the dreaded question "Have you even finished your reading assignment like I asked you earlier?".. there was silence. Miles had had enough. He picked up the remote and shut off the TV. His daughter yelled in protest.
"You wanted to go to the beach, so we're going to the beach. But before any of that, your getting your reading done." Miles told her, glaring until she eventually gave in and ran to go get her book. She returned with the book of poetry her class was working from. Miles asked her which poems she was supposed to read and listened to her read them out aloud. She had a soft voice when she wasn't angry with him. Miles wanted nothing more than to make sure Andrea was happy and successful in her future endeavors. The pre-pubescent attitude he'd been getting from her lately, he had to make clear wasn't acceptable. He wanted her to work with him rather than against him. Once they were all done Andrea seemed at least passive enough to hop into the car. Miles collected her things together so that they didn't have to spend another ten minutes arguing about bags.
They parked up outside the beach. Miles' stomach felt a growl ripple through his system that reminded him that he'd only had an apple to eat for breakfast. He spotted a seafood place on the outskirts of the sand that he decided to walk to, with Andrea walking impatiently next to him. She wasn't looking at him, just the sea. Probably thinking of what it would be like to run in it, though Miles rarely knew what Andrea was thinking. Miles ordered some octopus, a tasty treat if ever he had one. He scanned the menu for something Andrea might like and tried to tempt her with a few options but she was far too eager to enjoy the beach. The waves looked big enough to be dangerous, which scared Miles a little bit. Nonetheless they'd come to the beach, it was only fair that they enjoy it.
"Alright, go on. Don't go too far." Miles smiled, not having to tell Andrea twice before she bolted off toward the sea. He couldn't see many others on the beach, only a few in the distance. So that meant that Miles got to enjoy watching Andrea have fun whilst waiting for her to tire. Lucky him.

Rayna heard another few people come up to the beach and smiled a small smile as the little girl ran into the water. She had done the same thing every time she went to the beach... before her family was killed anyway. She only dipped Leslie's feet in now, and until Leslie got older that was all she needed to do. Humming quietly to her little girl, Rayna rubbed baby sunscreen on her little girl and smiled as Leslie squealed and kicked her legs. "No, no baby. You need this on, mummy can't have you all burnt. You'd be a nightmare for the nurses." She said while letting out a small laugh. The only time Rayna had laughed was when Leslie did something to make her laugh, she hadn't actually laughed beacuse of someone else since the murder of her family. She had no will to, Leslie let that will leak through on occasion.
As she finished putting sunscreen on Leslie, Rayna placed her baby on the little baby blanket. "There we go, we'll dip your feet in the water in a few minutes. Just let mummy put her sunscreen on." She told her little girl whith a smile and kissed her forehead. After she finished putting on her own sunscreen, Rayna picked up her little girl and carried her to the water taking care not to drop her or twist her ankle in the sand. Once she finally made it to the water, Rayna smiled as her little girl smiled and wiggled in her arms. Bending down, Rayna let Leslie kick her feet in the water. Picking up Leslie so she was holding her in her arms again, Rayna watched a few of the little kids running around playing in the sand.
Suddenly, Rayna felt a body collide into hers. Keeping her grip on her daughter, Rayna looked to her side to see a little girl. "Oh, hello." She let a small smile leak through, but seeing as she had no idea who the little girl was, though she did know that she was a werewolf. It set her slightly on edge, she worried that everyone was working for the man who killed her family, but there was no way a little girl who hadn't even hit puberty yet was one of his spies. Relaxing slightly, Rayna once again put Leslie's feet in the water. "Are you having fun at the beach? It's a beatiful day for a swim." She asked the little girl with a smile, that seemed much more genuine.

As Miles watched a young blonde woman put sunscreen on her baby, Miles groaned to himself. "Sunscreen!" he slapped his forehead aggressively, nine years into her life and he still couldn't get this parenting thing right. He looked at her beach bag that he was still holding, the sunscreen was there. If Andrea got burned it was on his head. With the scorching sun being as it was, Miles put the bag down on a spot on the sand, removed the sunscreen from the bag and looked for Andrea. The heat quickly became enough to entice him into being shirtless. He pulled off his shirt with his eyesight still scanning the horizon for Andrea. The reason he couldn't see her was that he hadn't been expecting to notice her talking to a grown woman. With the sunscreen in his hand he jogged over to them.
"We forgot to put your sunscreen on." Miles exasperated when he caught up to Andrea. His eyes locked with the woman Andrea was standing in front of. "Hello, she wasn't being trouble was she?" Miles asked, only because in his experience adults didn't engage other adult's children in chit-chat, even at the beach. He wondered if Andrea had initiated a conversation with the woman who might've wanted alone time with her own little girl. Miles went to put a hand on Andrea's shoulder but she was already gone swimming. "Not too far out!" Miles called to her, turning his head back to the woman. In the meantime he realized again that she'd taken no notice of the sunscreen warning. It was no surprise either, Andrea hated the stuff.
Then again, didn't kids hate anything that delayed their beach time? With a sigh Miles politely said "sorry, excuse me" to the woman and wadded after Andrea. "Come back! You need sunscreen. Come on, you don't want to burn!" he tried calling after her. Laughing happily, Andrea kept swimming away from him. Not further out, just further to the left. Miles cleverly caught her when she was pushed toward the beach by an upcoming wave. "Right, now sit still for me." he grinned smugly as he took her back on the sand. Andrea was scowling at her inability to get away as Miles rubbed her back, arms, legs and face with sunscreen.

Rayna usually did not talk to just anyone, but she did talk to children. She never suspected them of anything, not until they got older. Of course, a child could be mean, but she hardly doubted they could kill anyone unless they were insane or forced to by someone else. Since becoming a mother to Leslie, she became even more comfortable around children. Sure, being a mother was not easy, in fact, there were times she just cried because she did not know what to do and had no one to turn to for help, but she loved Leslie more than anything, including her own life, and she would never regret taking her from the States and keeping her safe. That did not mean it was easy raising a baby when you really had no practice at all. Shaking her head at the father's question, Rayna suddenly became less comfortable. "No, she was no trouble. She just accidentally ran into me when she was not paying attention. No harm." Ever since losing her family, Rayna did not trust any adult. Not even Adaleen, Leonardo, or Marco whom she had known during her high school years at Darcy. She did not feel like she could trust anyone, especially not when her own pack turned their back on her and killed her family.
Nodding as he excused himself to chase after his own daughter, Rayna once again let Leslie's feet dangle in the water. Hearing her little girl giggle made Rayna smile brightly. Picking Leslie up to keep her from a wave that would have been too high for the baby, Rayna held her closely and watched the father force his daughter to wear sunscreen. This caused her to smile softly and made her wonder if Leslie would be like that one day. She knew she probably would, especially because Leslie was Jade's daughter. Jade had always been more of a rebel than Rayna, though Rayna had always been the more social sister. Jade mainly pushed their parent’s buttons, where Rayna prefered to be liked by all. Laughing as Leslie tried reaching for the water, Rayna moved closer to shore and sat in the sand so she could easily let Leslie play a bit in the water and keep the water from coming too close to her.
Leslie started fussing when the water did not come close enough to her for her liking, and when they did not come again, she started to cry. Moving a strand of Leslie's soft blonde hair from her eyes, Rayna started to softly sing "Fly to Your Heart" by Selena Gomez. It was a song that Jade had sung to Leslie while she was pregnant with her, and it soothed the baby more than any other song. Rayna would have heard the song if not for Jade, but now she was happy she paid attention and learned the song. "Watch all the flowers dance with the wind. Listen to snowflakes whisper your name. Feel all the wonder lifting your dreams. You can fly, fly to who you are. Climb upon your star. You believe you'll find your wings. Fly to your heart. Touch every rainbow, painting the sky. Look at the magic, glide through your life. A sprinkle of pixie dust circles the night, you can fly, fly to who you are. Climb upon your star. You believe you'll find your wings. Fly. Everywhere you go your soul will find a home. You'll be free to spread your wings, fly. You can fly to your heart. Rise to the heights of all you can be. Soar on the hope of marvelous things. Fly to who you are, climb upon your star. You believe you'll find your wings. Fly. Everywhere you go; your soul will find a home. You'll be free to spread your wings, fly. You can fly to your heart." Her voice was soft, though anyone of the three species could have heard her if they really listened, she didn't care though. As long as her little girl was happy, Rayna was happy. Thankfully, it had stopped Leslie from crying and instead made her focus on Rayna's voice.
A few mothers smiled at Rayna after she was done singing, and a few children even smiled, as a few of them probably knew the song, it did not mother her though that people had heard her. It calmed her little girl down and that is all she had wanted to happen.

Whilst Miles was rubbing in the sunscreen carefully, Andrea was off on a tangent about how many ballpoint pens her grandmother sent her for her birthday. Miles had to explain to her that her grandmother had good intentions and didn't understand children very well. With her grandmother being in Melbourne she rarely came down, flights from Australia were expensive. He had to explain this every time Andrea ran a relay race at school and all the other kids had more than just one father there. It was difficult, now that she was nine she certainly couldn't be fooled. The arts functioned on a deep level for her. Paintings of women clutching their young, TV programmes, even by Disney, where the mother wraps her arms around her daughter and says that no matter what happens she'll be there. Andrea saw all that and wondered why she didn't have it.
Andrea suddenly jumped up, her mouth wide open. Miles' reactio was one of shock and surprise, looking nervously around for what could've provoked such a reaction. Then Andrea started pointing toward the blonde woman and her daughter. She screamed happily "I can play this on the piano! Dad! I can play this on the piano! This is the song I can play!" she repeated in shrills. Miles' was too busy trying to put her arm down, scolding her for pointing to strangers. "But that's the song!" she pouted, annoyed at his intervention. Miles listened intently to the song that the woman was singing. He didn't recognize the song but then he'd probably never heard just the lyrics. He'd heard Andrea on the piano many times. She loved music, but then there wasn't much she didn't love. Andrea had the idea that the brain was just mush with lots of blood. Miles responded that hers was very clever mush.
Andrea seemed entranced by the blonde woman. As if now that she's sung that song, she was Andrea's new best friend. Andrea continually stared at the woman, smiling and waving everytime the woman looked near her. Not just once, she continued smiling. Miles observed that she probably wanted the blonde woman to invite her over or something. Miles didn't feel easy about that, since the woman had only just lulled her child into a calm state. Andrea would only make her excited again, surely it wasn't a good idea. Plus Miles had trust issues with women, they were never all that they seemed.

Rayna heard the little girl tell her father how she could play the song she was playing on the piano, which made Rayna smile internally. She wondered if Leslie would still be happy to hear Rayna sing the song and she wondered if Leslie would want to learn how to play the song on the piano when she was old enough. Rayna loved music; it was one of her greatest passions. She had always loved music, even when she was a little girl who really did not understand it. It was probably why she had always gotten along well with Marco Romano and Adaleen Darcy during their school years. Of course, she did not fully trust either of them now, though she really did not trust anyone for that matter. She could come off cold and bitter when caught in the right moment. Normally when she was with Leslie she was fine and even though she didn't trust people, Rayna just couldn't help but smile at children and let them see the old her more so than the adults who could hurt her little girl.
Seeing the little girl smile and wave at her every time she looked her way, Rayna let out a little laugh and tickled Leslie's tummy. "Looks like Mummy made a friend by singing." Watching her little girl giggle and hold onto her finger, Rayna got up out of the sand and walked back into the water, though not very far incase a wave came as she was holding onto Leslie. Once her legs were rid of most of the sand, Leslie walked back out towards the beach, dipped Leslie’s feet in the water, and laughed as the baby giggled and kicked her feet at the cold water. Bringing Leslie back up, Rayna kissed her little strawberry blonde head and moved back to their stuff so she could get Leslie out of the sun for a little bit. Sitting down on the towel, Rayna gave Andrea a small smile and a wave. Rayna wondered what her father was thinking. She knew most adults just ignored another people's children unless they knew them, but Rayna had never done anything by the rules.
Sitting Leslie against her legs so she could sit and still be supported, Rayna heard that she needed to try and encourage Leslie to sit up on her own. Pulling out Leslie's baby snacks called graduate puffs, apple flavor, and broke them in half and watched Leslie start to gnaw on them. She had just started letting Leslie eat them and she was still a little weary. She was terrified that Leslie would start gagging and get solid food stuck in her throat. She did take a moment after Leslie had finished one of her treats to look at the little girl and her father. She saw the entranced look on the little girl's face and then wondered where her mother was. Of course, most families did not come to the beach unless the whole family could, but that was not the case. Maybe her mother just could not come. She knew, and heard, a few comments some of the older mothers made of her and Leslie. She had thrown a glare at one woman who had gone as far as to say that Rayna did not know who the father of her baby was. She hated how people could be so judgmental when they did not know half of the things she had gone through, but then again she did not trust anyone so she had no room to talk. Leaning down and kissing Leslie's head, Rayna knew that she could not understand her, but it helped lessen her anger at the women who could say those things about her and Leslie. "Its okay baby, no one's going to hurt you. Not while Mama's around." One thing was very noticeable about Rayna, and she was very protective over her daughter. Something about her though, always drew kids attention. As much of a party girl as she had been during her school years and as much as she loved to be the center attention, even back then she absolutely loved to be surrounded by children. She had always loved kids, she had always taken time to spend time with any of the kids she had made friends with, no matter their age. It seemed that even after her complete change, she could still draw the attention of children. Thankfully, she could use it in her classroom.

Once Andrea was done humming along to the blonde woman, Miles saw her run straight back into the sea. Miles knew he had to let her, she did let him put sun cream on. The last time Miles and Andrea had been at the beach was when Miles's boss and his daughter (who was Andrea's best friend) accompanied them. Andrea loved being around people, he remembered how she insisted that Miles buy her friend some 'sweeties' at the store. Shaking his head in amusement, Miles plucked out a book from his bag and laid down shirtless over the towel. He was glad of the opportunity to finally start reading. The book was 'Servant of Shores' but it wasn't as engrossing as he thought it would be. It was about a man that comes into big money and falls for a woman who is secretly an undercover journalist. Miles could only scoff, because he'd been in predicaments like that himself.
Except he was the news reporter that screwed people over. Journalists arrived with the stories and he told them, whether they were factual or just perceived was an entirely different matter. Most people were too pure of heart to think bad of the news anyway. They didn't tell lies, their phrasing was sometimes just a bit bias to opinion. That was what his training taught him. And he loved Andrea too much to enter a profession that was immoral. He also had faith that his career would evolve soon. The network producer would be retiring soon and Miles sensed that there was a lot of buzz in the office about it.
Sighing, Miles found he simply couldn't concentrate on the book. Andrea seemed to be performing some sort of sea dance in the water, sending the waves flying and crashing. She was jumping and squealing with happiness, occasionally looking back over at the sand. Miles was thankful she could appreciate her own company, he liked seeing independence from his little girl. He noticed the smile and wave that the blonde woman gave Andrea. It was nice to find someone that indulged her, Andrea was only nine after all. She liked to have approval from others. Most people did, rookie mistake. Finally Andrea ran through the water into the shallows and back up the beach. As she ran, the nine year old unknowingly kicked water into the child of the blonde woman. Miles immediately called "Andrea, no!" but it was too late. Her running had splashed a lot of water, presumably onto the blonde too.

Rayna could have controlled the water, had she been paying attention and had there been no humans around, but of course she hadn't been paying attention and there were indeed humans around who probably would take kindly to a woman suddenly controlling the water flying at her. She honestly hadn't minded that she herself got wet, she was more worried about the crying baby she had on her hands. She didn't blame the little girl though, she didn't know nor did Rayna think she did it on purpose. Of course, that didn't stop Rayna from fussing over her baby making sure no water or sand got into her mouth. "Sh... Leslie, its okay. Mama's here." Getting up off of the towel she was sitting on, Rayna moved to sit in the sand and started wiping sand and water off of her screaming baby. "Hush now Leslie, you're okay. Just a little bit of water." Careful to cheek Leslie's eyes for any sign of sand, and when no one was looking, Rayna closed her eyes and checked to see if she could feel any earth (aka sand) in her daughter’s eyes. When she was content and didn't feel any, just the sand around them, Rayna nodded. "Good, none in your eyes. Let's check your mouth." Tapping Leslie's lips, and as always the baby thought she was getting fed, Rayna swiped her finger checking for any sand. She had already risked being seen with the eyes, she didn't want to risk it again so soon with so many humans around. When she didn't find any there either, Rayna gave a sigh of relief and kissed her still sobbing babies head. "It's okay Leslie."
Fixing the towel again, Rayna set Leslie down on it and checked around for Leslie's favorite toy and bottle. When she found them, she brought them out and set the toy in front of the infant who immediately stopped wailing at the sight of her favorite toy. Checking to make sure no humans were watching her again, Rayna heated Leslie's bottle up a bit. Splashing a tiny drop on her wrist to check it, Rayna deemed it hot enough and picked Leslie and the toy up, deciding to walk the little girl around while she fed, as taking walks seemed to calm Leslie down when all else failed.
The little girl who had splashed them had run straight for her father. Rayna wanted to let them know she wasn't mad, but she was of course weary of the girl's father. Once she reached them, Rayna kept her focus on the girl so she didn't get to nervous around the father. "Hey honey, I know you didn't mean to spray us, and I wanted to make sure you knew I wasn't angry. Maybe just check for people before you go running through water again." She told her with a smile, letting the girl know she wasn't angry and in a polite tone. Finally getting a bit of courage to look up at the father, Rayna gave him a smile, though she knew she looked a bit more reserved then she had been when talking to his daughter. "Sorry if I bothered you. I would have felt bad though if your daughter thought I was angry with her and became upset because of it. I know she didn't mean to, so there isn't any use getting upset over it." She said, gaining a bit more courage. She didn't trust adults well, even adults who at one time she had been close with, and this guy was a complete stranger. An adorable stranger, but a stranger none the less, and a werewolf which meant that he could very well have worked for her old pack leader before. She didn't want to be found, she couldn't be found, not when she was finally feeling safe and dreaming of growing Leslie up without the fear of getting caught.

Once Andrea came back over to Miles he sat her down immediately. "You need to watch where your going Andrea, you just kicked water into that baby's face. How would you like it if someone did that to you?" Andrea hung her head, she wouldn't even look at the blonde woman that she'd seemed enamored with before. Andrea kept her head down and stared down at the sand like a typical little girl that had just got into trouble. Despite Andrea's sad face Miles kept his firmness, as you had to do as a father. Children weren't going to learn if you cuddled them all the time and gave them every little thing that they wanted. Or more that was just where her mother would've come in. If she were alive. Miles didn't even know who Andrea's father was, he'd kept out of Tiffany's life. He didn't even know she was seeing someone until the lawyers had the documentation right there in his hands.
"Daddy...Can I go apologize?" she asked, still not looking at him. She was too focused on picking the grains of sand out of her toes. Miles turned to look at the parent and child before turning back to Andrea. All he could see was her brown hair though, when she was sad she didn't look at people much. "I think the lady is busy with her daughter, maybe give her a minute." Miles consoled, wondering whether the woman regrets Andrea coming to the beach yet. He hoped his daughter didn't become a nuisance to other adults because she really didn't mean to be. She was just a kid after all, she didn't know any better.
Then he saw the blonde woman approach them. Miles had to admit he felt a little nervous for Andrea. Miles rose to his feet ready to defend Andrea and tell the woman that it was his fault for not watching her better. Andrea looked up at the woman as she spoke, whispering and muttering something under her breath, like she was trying to gather the confidence to speak to the woman. "She's just shy, " Miles chuckled. "It was nice of you to come over. Can we buy you both an ice cream or something?" he offered. Suddenly Andrea's face lit up at the prospect of spending more time with the woman. Miles wasn't terribly opposed to it himself.

Rayna had never really been shy as a child, in fact she had gotten in trouble on more than one occasion for being to open with people she didn’t know or just going right up to people and talking to them. She did however; know that most kids were shy when meeting strangers, especially adults. To say she was caught off guard by the man's question would be an understatement. Rayna was a bit nervous; she didn't really know what to do. She didn't trust people anymore, especially not after what her pack had done to her family, but with the little girl staring up at her with a lit up expression letting Rayna know just how happy it would make her if she said yes. Looking down at Andrea and then to her own daughter, Rayna gave a gentle nod. "Sure, I guess that'd be okay. My name is Rayna by the way, Rayna Rivers." She said giving him a small smile. Normally she didn’t hand out her last name, but she knew that she couldn’t lie to him, not about that anyway. ‘He probably won’t even remember it by the time he went home anyway.’
She thought to herself. Looking down at Andrea, her smiled turned a bit softer. "And what's your name sweetie?" Rayna asked Andrea. Looking again at Leslie, Rayna gently took the babies hand. "This is Leslie. Leslie, can you say "hi" for us?" She asked the baby with a small laugh, which Leslie just answered with a happy gurgle and a big smile that showed her toothless gums. It was obvious that Rayna was more comfortable with children, and she hoped that the man didn't ask questions. She didn't want to make up a lie again and there was no way she was going to tell him the truth. She didn't know him at all and to tell him something she hadn't even told her new boss and old friend something was just not going to happen. "She's sweet." She said looking up to Miles. "Is she old enough to start at Darcy for the middle school program or is she still too young? I work up in the high school department, but I’ll most likely be substituting in the middle school department from time to time." She asked him. Rayna knew that the girl had to be around the age of entering into the school for the three species and sending a werewolf to a school of humans just wasn't done anymore. Even though they interacted with humans every day, the council still worked hard to keep the three species separated from the humans as much as possible, especially until they learned to control their power and to control anything else they needed to control. She couldn't deny it, Miles was a very good looking man, but she of course wouldn't even dare try to pursue him or even think of it. Her heart was too battered and broken from what happened with her family, add major trust issues into the mix and you had one very bad recipe for a relationship. Besides, Rayna's biggest priority was keeping Leslie safe and staying hidden from her old pack. She couldn't risk anything, especially when she didn't know anything about this man. For all Rayna knew he could be bad, even though she found it hard to believe when he had a little girl, but if there was one thing Rayna knew better than most, it was the fact that looks could be deceiving. ‘Give it up Raynie, you can’t trust anyone but yourself and Leslie. You don’t trust anyone anymore, not Addy, not Leo, not Marco, so how could you trust a random stranger you met on the beach?’ Even though her thoughts were trying to get her to steer clear of the handsome werewolf in front of her, deep down inside, hidden even from Rayna, a part of the blonde woman felt she could trust this man and that he was a good thing. Of course, her conscious mind hid that from her and made her think he wasn’t. WORDS! 693 STATUS! complete TAGS! Miles! <3 NOTES! At being asked a question Andrea's sulking crumbled like a biscuit. She practically sprang up to shake Rayna's hand. "I'm Andy" she announced gleefully. She looked fascinated by Leslie, Miles could hear short 'aww' sounds from Andrea's mouth. "Or Andrea, for her actual name." Miles pointed out, receiving a glare from Andrea. She liked her name Andrea, Miles could only imagine she gave herself a nickname knowing that Miles was going to point it out. Maybe one day he and his daughter would get along but Miles suspected that'd be near when she went to college. Miles grinned at the mother helping her baby wave, Miles remembered that phase well. When they were a toddelor and didn't criticize anything you did. That was perhaps why Miles didn't look for love, he had his hands full already.
"She starts school in September." Miles answered whilst walking with them to the ice cream stand. Andrea was already jumping and pointing out what flavour she wanted. "What do you guys want?" he looked down at his money and picked out enough to buy ice cream for Rayna and Leslie. "I'm Miles by the way." he introduced himself, paying for the ice cream requested by Rayna. It was the least he could do after all, he was slightly afraid that Andrea might have bothered them.
He passed the ice cream over to Rayna, at the end of the day it was pure goodwill that made him want to buy the ice cream. And it was nice to meet a fellow parent, even if Miles wasn't biologically a parent. It hurt him to think about that though. "So listen, we're gonna head home but it was nice meeting you." Miles said to Rayna once Andrea was out of earshot. He knew she'd complain but it would be dark soon.

Smiling down at the girl who called herself "Andy", Rayna shook the girlshand. "Hello Andy, you have a very pretty name." She said after Miles told her that Andy's real name was Andrea. Rayna held Leslie and Andrea looked over Leslie. She always felt happy to hear people coo over the little baby, she was just a bit more cautious to who was up close to Leslie. Of course, she hadn't sensed any danger from either of the two werewolves with her, but she was still on her guard as always more so with Miles than Andy. Rayna was anxious to see what happened with Leslie as she grew up, she hoped that Leslie and her remained close, as Leslie was all Rayna had, but she knew she couldn't force herself on her adopted daughter, that just wasn't right.
Getting up and brushing a bit of sand off of her and Leslie, Rayna smiled at Andy. "I bet you're excited I remember when I started at Darcy, I had so much fun. There is so much to do there." Rayna had enjoyed living at school, where her parents couldn't always bug her, but of course, most of the middle school children were day students, though some stayed at school. "I was a full timer when I started out, but I knew most of the kids in middle school were day kids." Rayna knew, though really unbeknownst to her really why she would, that if Andrea was a full timer and ever needed Rayna, she'd be there in a heartbeat. For some reason she was feeling a connection with the young girl, but of course she wasn't going to freak her father out by saying that. Rayna was just a natural mother figure, especially after Leslie. If Rayna found any child in need she'd stop what she was doing and help out. Looking over the ice cream flavors, Rayna saw mint chocolate chip and told Miles when he asked them. Giving Miles a warmer smile than she had before, Rayna put her hand out for him to shake. "Nice to meet you Miles, and you really didn't have to do this for us, but thank you."
Taking the ice cream, Rayna took a small lick of it before debating wether or not she should try and give Leslie a small taste. Deciding it should be okay, Rayna scrapped a bit of the cold treat on her finger and lightly touched it to Leslie's lips and smiled as the baby happily stuck Rayna's finger in her mouth. She may not be Leslie's real mother, but she treated Leslie like she was her own. Looking over at Miles, then back to Andrea, Rayna didn't know what came over her but she didn't know if it'd be a good thing or not. "It was nice meeting you too Miles, maybe we can get these two together another time. I don't start work until school so if you ever need a baby sitter for Andy you can call me. I know we just met and everything, but I just figured I'd let you know. It's just me and Leslie all of the time and I know she'd probably love having someone else around and I'm sure Andy would like it too." Grabbing a napkin and writing her cell phone number down, Rayna handed it to Andy who walked back over and smiled down at the girl and gave her a little hug. "That's my cell phone, make sure you tell Daddy if he ever needs a baby sitter just to call me." She told Andy before giving them both a smile and walking back towards her things and then to her car so she could get Leslie home and bathed. 'Honestly Rayna, what were you thinking? He's not going to call you to babysit his kid when he doesn't know you. What else did you think was going to happen? He's probably got a girlfriend who wouldn't like this. Think next time Rayna, seriously.'
She thought quietly, slightly scared that she had made a fool of herself in front of the handsome dad. 'Not that I'd try to date him, God what am I thinking. I don't know him, this could be bad.' WORDS! 752 STATUS! complete TAGS! Miles! <3 NOTES! Can't wait for them to get together XD CLTOHES! click! CREDITS!
