Short Description:
Despite being born in Eastern Europe, his skin tone is typically darker due to the genetics from his Indian mother. His hair is black and is almost entirely made up of curls.

Full Description:
He has brown eyes, shielded by bushy eyebrows and an athletic build. His metabolism is giving in more as he's older, so he's not so thin that you can see bones, but you wouldn't call him more than average weight. His clothes are usually leather or dark coloured. His favourite item of clothing is his skinny jeans. His body hair is prominent but not all over, more like patches. He rarely has stubble.

Personality:
He's very cautious around people. He rarely speaks and when he does it's with people he's been friends with for a long time. He's naive in that he believes all that he hears. So gossip and what people say about each other has to be true, because he doesn't talk to people to clarify them himself. People that point out his reluctance to speak are heavily avoided, as it's like rubbing salt onto a wound for him. Though he's never mean to someone, he's too calm for that. Once a person does become close to him, he is a very caring person. So much so that it can be destructive, as it can sometimes come off as possessive or over-protective. He only tries to be respectful. Though it'll take him a while to get close to someone anyway, he's far too clumsy with his words. He prefers to go without.

The outdoors, dolphins, sunset, myths, his home in Slovenia, his home in France, his home in Canada, aquariums.

Heights, swimming, chocolate, watching the news, shopping.

Hobbies:
He used to love swimming, boating, snorkeling. Since his father drowned he's more a fan of mountain climbing and hiking.

Nor do many people know that his father left him and his mother for another woman.

History:
Niko used to have confidence. He didn't always stay away from human contact and be afraid. That story all starts at nineteen, his first year of university. He fell in love with an artist, Paul, unsurprising that he was male as he'd always known he'd been attracted to both sexes. He was an artist that loved post-impressionist painters and furthermore came from near the area in France that Niko lived in until he was fifteen. It was like a dream come true, they had a passionate and carefree romance. They became engaged after three weeks. Yes, three weeks. They were persuaded that they suited each other perfectly. During this time Niko introduced Paul to his stepfather Michael.

Niko's stepfather had been around since Niko's mother first learned she was pregnant via IVF. Niko's mother was a career woman who put her career on hold and only became pregnant after she was in the top place professionally at age fourty-three. Niko's stepdad was fourteen years her senior but due to his life experience was better at caring for Niko's mother than his father, who left her when she fell pregnant. He didn't run off but he did go with another woman whilst Niko's mother was pregnant. So Michael has been more of a father to Niko than his father.

So Michael met Paul, Niko's fiancee, after they had been seeing each other just over eleven weeks. Michael didn't mind the profession that his son's partner had, he had respect for artists. However Paul wasn't so impressed with his stepfather's contribution in the army. He made it sound like common man's work. Which Michael found disrespectful and banned him from the house which at the time also housed Niko's two stepsiblings. With Paul having no income yet from his art, Niko helped desperately for him to find a place. His stepfather wouldn't let him live there. So Niko called upon the help of his biological father, Jani, in order to help. Niko's father was a very successful author with many books and short stories published, so he had the money to house them whilst they studied. Due to an accident that happened with Niko was fourteen, he didn't drive, so Paul had to drive him everywhere.

Arguments started to ensue about who was really pulling their weight in the relationship. But they stayed together for the good times. On their anniversary they finally consummated their relationship, which led to many arguments from there. Paul criticized Niko for not being good enough and Niko criticized him for not being patient enough with him. He had been a virgin after all. Paul threw back that he'd been patient for a whole year. Patient certainly wasn't the adjective to use, because the whole year they'd been together Niko had been pressured and he had resisted up until then. He wanted to make their anniversary special, and it was thrown back in his face. They finally broke up and Niko hasn't connected with anyone since. He doesn't allow friendships to get too close and he certainly can't see himself having any sexual activity with anyone again after his destroyed esteem.

Then last year, his father took him out on a boat that he owned. It was a little temperamental weather-wise but not too much to worry about. Shamefully, Niko looked up to his father for his ability to see beyond home and to want to travel to new places. It was an attribute he didn't see in his mother or stepfather, they seemed too homebody. That night the boat capsized, forcing Niko and his father into the water. It was deep, it was almost as if a hand was pulling Niko under. Gravity worked against him. He lost consciousness at some point and woke up in the hospital. His father was been caught under the boat and couldn't find the surface, resulting in his death. Niko hasn't touched water since, he sticks to land now. He occupies his time with rock climbing (trying to conquer his fear of heights) and hiking, camping etc when he's not working. Plus with a job as a news reporter, you hear some scary accidents happening around the local area. He's terrified that an accident will happen to him, just like it did to his father.
