Rory sat in the waiting room of the doctors office inside the New Castle hospital. She was two months late, three home pregnancy tests in, and now she needed to actually go to the doctors and make sure she really was pregnant. She had called Axel and told him where to meet her and what time, of course Rory hadn't expected Axel's brother's car to break down and make him late so now she was by herself in the waiting room, nervously waiting to be called. She had only been there for maybe twenty minutes when a friendly looking nurse came in.

"Aurora Soren." She called out into the waiting room, looking happy at first but of course when she saw the teenager walking up to her she looked sadly at her. "It says you believe yourself to be about eight weeks and are here to confirm your pregnancy?" The nurse asked quietly.

Rory nodded her head and gave a small sigh. "My boyfriend was supposed to meet me here... his brother's car broke down." She explained before walking into the examination room. Rory went through a few questions with the nurse before her doctor walked into the room with her chart in his hands.

"Hello Aurora, I'm Dr. Charles Black." He said while shaking her hand. "So, you're sixteen... almost seventeen and you're entering your eighth week of pregnancy. You've taken three home tests all read positive but you came here to make sure." Dr. Black said mainly to himself. "A bit young to be pregnant, how old is you're boyfriend Aurora? If you don't mind me asking that is."

Aurora gave a small sigh and knew that this question would have come up sooner or later. People often judged at the age gap between her and X, but she knew that she was mature enough to handle it, or so she thought. Obviously she had needed a bit more prep but she loved Axel and that was what she knew for certain. "He's twenty-four sir, both of my parents knew he was going to be dating me and we got legal documents saying I was allowed to date him and if anything happened no charges would be pressed... of course my parents hadn't been expecting me to get pregnant... I haven't told them yet, but I wasn't sure."

Dr. Black simply nodded and got out of his chair. "Well, if you really are eight weeks then we can do an ultrasound. We'll do the ultrasound first, so I'm going to need you to follow me and Nurse Benny to the correct room." Dr. Black explained before leading Aurora to the correct room where her ultrasound could be done.

Rory layed down as instructed under the machine and watched curiously as it turned on. She then turned to look at Dr. Black as he listened to the machine.

"Oh... well... Aurora I think I hear two heart beats. You wouldn't happen to be a twin would you?" He asked her curiously.

Both Axel and I are twins." She told him nervously. She had been having trouble imagining life with one kid, now there were two! She knew she'd love them both, but she worried about how she was going to finish school and find another job and find the time to take care of both of them.

"Yes... well I do hear two sepparate heart beats." He told her quietly. "I believe you are having twins Aurora."

She knew she loved the twins already, but she was sixteen almost seventeen and was going to be the mother of a set of twins. She knew Axel would help her, but she didn't know how much he could help especially if her parents kicked her out of her home.

[Axel Oskar Lasion]

Axel knew that the way to start off this new relationship with Rory was definitely not to lie. He'd told her the car wasn't working out and his brother asked him almost as soon as the 'sent' message appeared on his phone why he'd told her that. The truth was, Axel didn't have an answer. He just sat wide-eyed in the middle of the couch, half wondering whether he'd ever have the guts to get out of the house and get to that doctors appointment. There was a shivering cowardice unhinging his mind to certain ideas of being unable to be a father and that Rory would do so much better without him. What about his job, what about the impact of their age difference? So many unanswered questions that he had no answers to, though he knew Rory didn't know the answers either.

He needed to help her, it was his job as her boyfriend and the father of her child. His salary couldn't support a child, his mother was eighty-one years of age! No, he wasn't going to the appointment. He couldn't do it, he had to tell Rory that it was over because their relationship could never be the same with a baby on the way. She'd made that perfectly clear last time they were out, their date night had turned into their planning the rest of their lives. Axel at least wanted to tell Rory right then that he couldn't make it to the appointment, searching through every pillow on the couch to try to find the cellphone he only had in his hand a few minutes ago before he went to the bathroom. "Looking for something?" his twin sister asked, her and their brother were cooking eggs in the kitchen with the door open so that could converse with him.

"Why do you have my phone?" Axel asked, in no mood to entertain. "Because your meant to be at a doctors appointment with Rory" she stated matter-of-factly. "Sorry I thought that was important to you" she snapped, throwing the phone at him. The phone hit his chest and Axel winced like a crumbling wall. His sister wasn't someone to trifle with, she played ice hockey professionally and considering her gender it was a massive achievement for her and her team to have gone pro. Axel often joked they were better than the Canadians. This time though he and his sister weren't joking with each other, her eyes were like daggers. Female solidarity sucked sometimes.

So Anne drove him to the hospital and allowed him to use the excuse that Anne had just got home and offered to give him a ride in her car. Thankfully Axel left the car and ran into the hospital, urgently asking anyone in uniform where he might find Aurora Soren. Eventually he found the room and gave the door a gentle knock.

Aurora heard the knock on the door, but the doctor was the one who answered. "Ah, you must be Axel." He said with a smile and walked back over to Rory. "We've just found out Aurora's having twins." He said cheerfully.

Looking over at Axel with a terrified look, Rory felt for certain that he would up and leave right then and there. He had his whole life ahead of him, he probably didn't want to settle down with his pregnant teenage girlfriend and raise a set of twins with her. Especially not if her parents kicked her out and refused to help. Rory hoped and prayed that Axel wouldn't leave her, but even after their date she still had doubts about him staying. She knew they cared for one another, but they couldn't support two babies, a rent, a car, and everything else. Tears formed in her eyes again and she had to look away from him. It wasn't her fault entirely, but she sure felt like it was.

Dr. Black acted as if he didn't notice and started to tell them what Rory would need to do and when she would need to come back for her next apointment in two weeks. Dr. Black gave her a few list of what foods to eat, what foods to avoid, how much weight she should gain, common symptoms of pregnancy and how you can ease those symptoms, flue shots, etc.

Taking the papers, Rory only could listen to him quietly. She didn't trust herself to talk, not with Axel right there, she may start crying.

Turning to Axel, Dr. Black sat down in a chair and held a clipboard. "Axel, I've already had Rory fill these out but I need you to help out here too.I need to know your medical history, and your families medical history. So if you wouldn't mind, would you please fill this out?" He asked while handing Axel the clipboard and paper. "Since Aurora is having twins, she may need to come in more often if she's having difficulties. So please, don't let her try and brush them off, if she becomes scared she needs to come here and we'll check everything over."

Keeping a hand on her stomach, Rory wondered what was going to happen. She had a feeling that things weren't going to be okay between her and Axel and she didn't want that. She loved him and she didn't want to lose him, but she wouldn't get rid of the babies. She was a very protective person, and even if these babies were going to bring her a lot of bad, she knew they'd be worth it in the end. She had spaced out a bit unintentionally while Dr. Black was talking to Axel, but she finally snapped out of it when Dr. Black excused himself from the room.

"I need to be leaving, don't forget your next apointment in two weeks Aurora. Goodbye and congragulations." He said and walked out of the door leaving Axel and Aurora alone.

Taking a deep breath and looking at Axel, Rory couldn't tell what was going on with him inside his head. "Are you going to leave now?" She asked him quietly, bracing herself for the answer. She'd rather know now if he was going to leave than tell her parents, them kick her out, and have Axel leaveher. Sure, she could probably move in with Remy and her family or at least get help from them until she finished school, went to a community college, find a job, and pay them back. "I know you said you weren't leaving last time we talked, but twins change it all. I want to know now wether you're leaving or not so I can find out how I'm going to do this. If you want... I can say they aren't yours and you won't get in trouble... I can't guaruntee that anyone will believe me if they come out looking like you but it would give you time." She said hiding the sadness at just the thought of it.

"You've got to be kidding me." he scoffed. He went into there expecting, with tremendous fear, one baby. One. Now it was two lives that he was going to mess up. He wanted to walk straight back out the door again and un-hear the news. His entire body just went to sleep and he was stood there wide-eyed. He shouldn't of been, he should've seen it coming. He was a twin, a detail he seemed to have forgotten despite his sister being the one that drove him there. Rory was a twin. How could he not have seen it? Though it was too late to fret about it, he seriously wished he'd worn protection. He couldn't imagine what foolishness had persuaded him to forget it.

With a raised eyebrow Axel's mouth only became slightly bemused by the doctor handing him the forms. "Can't help you I'm afraid. I'm adopted, I have no idea what medical history I have or that of my family." his voice cold as stone as he pushed the clipboard back to the good doctor. To think of the fact that he was adopted just made him sick to his stomach, he almost wanted to hiss at the doctor for reminding him of that brutal fact. He had to keep his mind focused on the task at hand and very minimally on the actual conversation in order to ensure he didn't transform right there. He didn't know what was going to happen in terms of shifting between him and Rory. He'd never had to think of two shapeshifters having twins before.

He couldn't believe the word 'congratulations' being in any way fitting to their situation but he didn't cross-examine it too closely. He knew it was polite courtesy to say it to an expectant couple, hoping that they were thrilled at the new life - lives - growing inside their mother. Anger flooded through him as Rory dared suggest she could deny his paternity and again questioned him on his commitment. He was downright sick of being underestimated but he knew he had to cling to whatever calmness he had left. His voice came out clipped and short in breaths. "Stop being ridiculous. I think you should ask Artemis if you can live with her until alternative arrangements can be made." he reasoned dryly, since she was convinced her parents would disown her he had to think ahead of where she would live.

Rory flinched when Axel scoffed. She couldn't help it, she hadn't thought about it either. Twins ran in families, and both she and Axel were twins. She should have realized before that there was a huge possibility that she, they, could be having twins. Not knowing what else to do, Rory hung her head in shame and wouldn't look at Axel.

She once again flinched when Axel spoke to the doctor. One thing Rory refused to bring up was Axel's family. Sure she wanted to know more about what happened, but she learned early that he hated to talk about it or even really think about it for that manner so she never brought it up or asked about his family. Knowing she had to calm down and take a few deep breathes to keep from transforming, Rory tried counting the tiles on the floor below her but she lost count quickly and only became more frustrated.

His tone of voice let Rory know that Axel was angry at her, but that only made her angry. She had a feeling he had lied about his brothers car breaking down and knew that he had been scared about having one kid and now there were two. "Well you know what Axel, I wonder why I would suggest that. Oh wait, I know, maybe because you aren't exactly helping me here." She tried not to yell because she knew the doctors and possibly a few nurses would hear her, but she was angry, frustrated, upset, scared, and hormonal so she wans't exactly caring if they did hear or not. "I understand you're brothers car was broken or whatever, but guess what Axel, I'm in this too! I can't run away from this like you can. So, yes I offered you a back out because I'd rather know now if you're going to stay with me through this or if you're going to stay now and leave later or if you just fully plan on backing out." Her voice had raised slightly but it was still a harsh whisper. Her eyes had started to glow and turn to her cat eyes and her nails were starting to turn to dark claws. Knowing she had to calm down, Rory jumped off the table and started pacing the room trying to calm down. "I'm telling my parents tonight, whether you're there or not, I don't care anymore." She hid the hurt in her voice but couldn't hide the anger and fear.

She tried to reason with herself that he was angry, frustrated, and scared to but her mind kept fighting back saying that she was all of those too and he wasn't helping her. Rory knew she loved Axel, but she didn't know if he loved her and if he did if that love would even last long into the pregnancy. She knew that he didn't want her raising their children with someone else, but she wanted to know if he was going to be there to raise their children or if she should just leave him be and claim there were someone elses even if they came out mini Axels.

Axel saw Rory flinch but he had no idea why. Surely she understood what these babies meant for jobs, living situations, travel expenses. The list was endless and now it was double trouble. He was beginning to think that Rory had a far too idealized view of what having a baby entailed if she couldn't understand his distress. That was why he was angry, the blatant disregard for how he was feeling. He'd tried to be sensitive but babies were a huge thing. And the fact that she was talking about him disowning her and his child made him worse. He could've ran from this appointment, he could've ran from her last night. He didn't, and she still didn't trust him!

"Clearly you think I can run away at my leisure. So tell me how I can win, please, I'm dying to know." he inquired sardonically. This wasn't going to be a calm talk and he could feel the scales forming on his skin. In this mood he would pump toxic straight into Rory's animal figure with no idea what he was doing. He couldn't do that to the woman he loved, he hated arguing with her like this. God, he couldn't take the accusation though. Rather than subject any children to this kind of disaster he knew that they couldn't make parents the way they were fighting each other now.

"You know what, if you think I'm such a jerk, here's me acting like a jerk." and with that he swept out of the door and slammed it behind him. He felt a terrible sense of relief when the door was shut. Relief from the arguing and the disaster that is their current state of their relationship. He had no interest in talking to Rory again until they could talk like calm and rational human beings. Yes, they weren't a conventional couple, with the age difference and the fact that he was a teacher but that had never been the cause of arguments. This however was near to ruining them. He hated to think it but maybe they weren't ready for this.

As Axel walked out the door slamming it behind him, Rory fell to the ground and finally allowed herself to cry, though was careful not to sob. She knew she was losing control and quickly, so she tried to think of anything else than the arguments, the babies, her parents, Axel, herself but it was a losing battle. Rory felt her bones start to shift and felt the black fur growing on her skin. Changing when she was so emotional had always gave trace of a physical pain more so than when she was changing freely and not just changing because she had lost herself to her emotions. Rory was an emotional girl, but even so she had hardly ever been forced to change from emotions before she started dating boys. She guessed that all girls, especially shifters, went through it but she hated it.

The magnificent panther that was now laying on the floor gave a low whimper before slowly getting up. She knew she couldn’t walk out the door looking like a panther when she had clearly come in human. The village had no idea that her kind, werewolves, and vampires still existed save for a select few doctors like Dr. Black. Curling up in a ball in the corner, Rory laid her furry head against her paws and tried to will herself back to her human form so she could leave the hospital and walk around the park or at the very least escape to the woods before she was forced to change from her raging frustration, anger, sadness, and guilt. She knew it wasn't all Axel’s fault, it took two to tango afterall, and she shouldn’t have accused him, but she didn’t know what she was doing and it was taking the girl who always knew the answers and turning her into the girl who knew nothing.

Thinking back to simpler times, Rory was finally able to change back into her human form, though she could tell that she was still partially transformed as her eyes were still cat like and instead of finger and toe nails, she had black razor sharp claws. Thankfully she could hide those by stuffing her hands in her pockets and putting on a pair of sunglasses. Rory grabbed the door handle and yanked the door open and ignored the stares she was getting at her tear stained face, messy hair, and slightly torn shirt which she hadn’t noticed until she actually looked in the mirror in the hall. Giving a low growl that sounded more like a panther than a human Rory ran a hand through her hair and wiped away more tears. She finally took notice of Axel standing by the door and whimpered a guilt ridden, “I’m sorry,” before moving away from the room and towards the lobby. Remembering to stuff her hands in her pocket after putting on her sunglasses to hide the green cat eyes and black claws, Rory knew she needed to take a run in the park before even thinking of going home and telling her parents.
