Adaleen saw his frown and shook her head. She knew Marco better than almost anyone. Of course, she had to take in the fact that he probably did not trust anyone because of what happened after she started dating his twin brother. It still made her feel guilty that even after seven years he was still so hurt by it, and even more so that the and his twin brother practically hated each other. Sure, she had not expected him to get over it quickly, but she had thought he would have moved on completely after so long. She was glad that he was talking to her, though it made her feel bad that Leo would get so jealous because she and were still best friends and he couldn't even talk to his twin without getting in some sort of glaring match.
As the waitress poured the coffee, Addy kept her eyes on Marco, only taking them off once to add sugar and milk to her coffee. Once he finally spoke, Addy gave him a soft smile, though the sadness was still visible. "Well, after being friends for so long, and dating for awhile, it's no wonder I know you so well. I mean, we hardly spent any time apart in our school years." She told him quietly. "Besides, someone has to be able to read you otherwise no one would know what's going on with you."
Finally, her pie and ice cream arrived making Addy lick her lips. She had been so hungry for a good piece of apple pie and vanilla ice cream. As Marco put a piece of his muffin on her plate, Addy laughed and cut a piece of her pie off and put it on his. "Indeed it is." She said returning his smile. Lifting the bowl of ice cream, Addy motioned toward it. "Want some of this too?" She asked him while holding out her spoon. Taking a bite of her pie, Addy sighed happily and savored the sweet taste. Next she took a bite of the piece of muffin she was given and though it tasted very good, she still loved her apple pie.
Taking a bite of ice cream, Addy thought her words over. "Well, I was thinking of trying to see what everyone else thought and then I'd mull everything over and decide what we do really need. I want to try to get the kids to deal with each other and not let the views of whoever started everything to cloud their judgment. I just have to figure out how to do that first." She told him with a sigh. Addy had no idea how to keep the peace in her school. She did not care if they kids liked each other; sure she would love it if they did, but she did not expect it. Honestly, she just did not want people trying to kill each other in school, especially not when there were younger kids passing the halls and walking around the school.

Marco took his time eating his muffin, but shook his head when Addy offered him ice cream. He had never been a big fan of the milk based food, but he would have his fair share of it once every few months. He thought about what she said of having someone know what was going on with him, and something just clicked in his mind. He knew that he would probably never forgive his brother, but he also realised that he didn't love Addy in a romantic sense. He loved her more like a sister. He wouldn't mention anything to her now, but he would have to tell her soon. He hated that he could guilt her in the way he did, but he would have to make Leo sweat it out a bit more.
Marco listened with interest as she mentioned what she had in store for the Academy, and it was true. This crap with the shifters and werewolves posed for a dangerous situation, especially among the older students where hormones played the key role in any decision. I understand, but maybe we shouldn't interfere just yet. Most students know about the tenseness of the situation, but other wouldn't allow it to prejudice their views. There are a few that would cause a fight, but there are those in every school, he told her, a small frown on his features. He was very much the introvert sometimes and it showed.
There was still an amount of worry in his mind about his lesson plan for the school year. He couldn't just get his ideas straight and he did want to change it. He was tired of doing the same old thing, but there was actually more than enough time to mull over it.

Really Addy didn't know why she had offered him ice cream when she knew he didn't really like it. Shaking her head, she laughed at herself and gave a small happy sigh. She always enjoyed the days when she got to hang out with Marco, it was one thing she had missed as of late. Sure, she loved hanging out with Leo, but she missed Marco too. They both had been such big parts in her life, and as of recently it had been so hard to split her time between the two, especially asw neither were talking to the other. She had to spend time with her fiancee, but she had to spend time with one of her best friends also. Of course, the guilt she felt because of everything did keep her from just calling Marco up and telling him they needed to find time to hang out, but she knew she herself had to get over that and just make more time for both of them and not hide behind her guilt.
Listening to what Marco had to say, Addy nodded. "You're probably right, I just worry because there are also parents getting into this and what if they want their kids to start something? I mean, parents with good morals wouldn't want their kids involved or they wouldn't want their kid to get hurt in the process but then you always have the ones who would do anything, even sacrifice a kid, to be proven the better of the species. I can still remember the stories my grandparents had told me of their parents in the first war. It was horrible."
Addy finished her pie and ice cream finally and moved onto her coffee. Taking a nice sip, Addy let the hot liquid fall down her throat and tried to sooth her worried mind. There were times that Addy wished her mother hadn't given the job of Headmistress to her so early, but she knew her mother wanted her to learn. 'Of course she couldn't wait until this war was over.'

Popping the last piece of the muffin in his mouth, he nodded at Addy's reasoning. There was the positive and negative to every side, but that was not his thoughts. These moments he savoured, and enjoyed, seeing that he got so little of them. He often just wanted to phone Addy, but he didn't want to risk it that his brother would answer. That was the one thing that he hated. He couldn't see his best friend because of something that caused extreme hatred between him and his brother. That was all that had prevented him from actually picking up a phone and calling Addy. At least term was starting soon, so he would be able to make more time for them, at least he hoped so.
You'll see, it'll all work out for the best. Even a war does break out, we can at least keep the students safe. After all, the safest place for them would be Darcy, he told her softly, a reassuring smile on his face. Drinking his own coffee, he finished it off quickly, knowing that it was merely a preparation for something stronger later that day. Drowning his sorrows as he often called it, it had become merely a routine to have that one whiskey in the evening before heading home. Sometimes he had more than one, but that was on a rare and sometimes unheard of occasion.
Indicating that he wanted the bill, he leaned back into the chair. An easy smile graced his features, and he paid the bill with ease. What do you want to do now? he asked her. Marco was really up for anything, and he didn't mind. As long as he was with Addy, nothing seemed to matter any more. Not even the pile of work that awaited him at home. That was the least of his worries and he didn't mind putting off for another day. After all, the summer holidays were still going on. It didn't matter that there was so much to actually do.

Looking at his reassuring smile, Addy couldn't help but nod her head. "I guess, but it won't be if the students start uprising and going at each other. We already have a few students who are completely racist against one or both of the opposite species." Taking another sip of her coffee, Addy stared off into space, trying to think of ways to keep the students from either joining in on the fighting or at the very least trying to keep the peace between them.
Once Marco spoke, Addy shook away her spacey thoughts and smiled. "Well, I'm up for anything honestly." She told him with a smile. "We could go to the island and have a bonfire and have some dinner if you want. My mom and dad decided against going there this weekend but they left all the wood and stuff ready just in case me or one of the twins wanted to go." She suggested with a shrug. "I did have an idea though. Maybe we could have something for the students and teachers on the island before school starts. Kind of like a big bonfire party for everyone to get together?" Running a hand through her hair, Addy laughed. "I'm not sure yet though, I was going to bring it up during a staff meeting next week and see what everyone thought."
Shaking her head, Addy got up and hit his shoulder playfully. "I get the check next time. Don't forget that." She said with a laugh. Looking around the little place, Addy gave herself a mental reminder to talk to Rory about the boss and make sure he doesn't give her any more of a hard time. Grabbing her coffee cup, Addy finished the last sip before setting it back down. Popping a piece of gum in her mouth, Addy offered one to Marco. "Want a piece?"
